Representatives from the region’s public and private sector organizations and IT industry gathered again today for the 14th GCC eGovernment and eServices Forum.  A five-day event organized by Datamatix Group, the forum will conclude tomorrow at Al Bustan Rotana Hotel in Dubai, UAE. The main sponsors for the event are Dubai eGovernment and Xerox, the world’s leading document management technology and services enterprise; and its co-sponsors are Genius Soft, Crimson Logic, Solutions Middle East, Captaris, Gemalto, and Oracle.

The 4th day of the forum began with Mr. Joe Clabby, Datamatix’s International Advisor and Vice President of Clabby Analytics, discussing Integrating eGovernment “BPR” and ICT to run Government operations and services successfully.

Following Mr. Clabby’s talk, Mr. Joe Devassy Regional Manager – Business Mobility Nokia MENA & SSA delivered a presentation on Next Generation Telecom Infrastructure for GCC eServices and eGovernment.  Focusing on Mobility as a Business Differentiator he pointed out that when mobile employees are unable to access vital information, they cannot respond to customers and take appropriate actions and the bottom-line is affected.   “Mobility  can be a major business differentiator, helping workers to become more informed, agile and capable,” he said naming the benefits that well designed mobile solutions will offer,  including improved productivity and team cohesion and collaboration, faster processes and responsiveness, improved customer relationships, and increased profits.

According to Devassy, the key considerations to bear in mind when looking at mobile business solutions are security, ability to manage (update, maintain) software, and professional service and support.

A panel discussion followed on the Future of GCC ePayments and the Role of GCC eBanking in the success of GCC eGovernment and eBusiness.

Ghassan Surkhi the Regional Account Manager for event co-sponsor, Captaris Inc., delivered the 3rd presentation of the day - a Regional Case study on Successful eDocument Delivery with Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ADCCI)”.

Sharing how Captaris worked with ADCCI’s head of IT, Yaghi Shoukri to develop a successful eDocument Delivery program,  he examined the pre-installation challenges faced in ADDCI’s day to day operations and  Mr. Shoukri’s post installation experience, i.e. How documents are delivered securely and delivery confirmations are automatically tracked.

ADDCI had experienced problems with high document delivery costs; inefficient business processes; lack of integration between applications;  time consuming document search and retrieval; lack of document privacy; and lack of control over outbound documents;  Captaris’ solution streamlined document delivery to  all members;  saved time and increased efficiency for employees; enabled document control and privacy; saved paper and consumables;  freed up office space; and provided service to members in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and surrounding areas.
