
Honorable Igor Ivanov, Former Foreign Minister – Russian Federation, to preside at 13th Middle East eGovernment and eServices Excellence Awards.

The Honorable Igor Ivanov, Former Foreign Minister - Russian Federation, will be present at the Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai, UAE as chief guest of the 13th Middle East eGovernment and eServices Excellence Awards ceremony. Organized by the Middle East Excellence Awards Institute, the awards will recognize government and business organizations for their creativity and excellence in the application of information and communication technologies and solutions to provide efficient and high-quality services to their customers.
Before the ceremony, Ali Al Kamali, Chairman – Middle East Excellence Awards Institute, will express his delight at the presence of Russia’s former Foreign Minister and will discuss the current significance of the awards in the GCC: “Today, the region’s governments are steadily working toward their strategic development goals, and in which ICT, e-government and e-services have a significant role to play, because it is impossible to achieve a truly modern and prosperous society and economy based on antiquated, inefficient and outdated systems of conducting business and offering services. These awards encourage regional business and government organizations to continue to strive for excellence in all of their business and customer transactions, by implementation of innovative and improved ICT based services.”

This recognizes a country-level effort for successfully planning and implementing e-initiatives. It focuses on the role played by the nominated nation in promoting e-culture and encouraging government, businesses, and citizens towards e-based services and online processes for routine and critical operations.
2008 ICT Personality – Dr. Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Shahri, The General Intelligence Presidency of the K.S.A.
This award honors the accomplishments of a leading ICT personality who has actively and consistently demonstrated initiative, creativity, support, commitment, and leadership in ICT and who has efficiently used ICT to achieve optimum results.
eService Provider Organization of the Year – Department Planning & Economy - Abu Dhabi- UAE
This award highlights and encourages the contributions of organizations that have used the latest information technology to provide innovative e-services. It recognizes smart government and business e-services that are well received by citizens and businesses and cost-efficient for both the customer and the organization, reducing service time, unwanted processes, and other redundancies.
eGovernment 'One Stop Shop' Portal of the Year
The award recognizes an e-government portal that offers services from different government organizations as a "one stop shop".
eBusiness 'One Stop Shop' Portal of the Year
This award recognizes an e-business portal that offers multiple online services as a "one stop shop" for customers and is vibrant, easy to use, informative, and transactional.
ICT Solution Provider of the Year – Oracle
This award recognizes an ICT company that has successfully supported regional e-government, e-business, and ICT initiatives with its products, solutions, and/or consultancy services.
Online Payment Gateway of the Year
This award is presented to the organization with an online payment solution that is a true asset to its business, through benefits like improved employee productivity, security, ease of use, and acceptability among users.
2008 ICT Project
This award recognizes an ICT project that was successfully implemented in the past year. It rewards the sustained efforts of regional organizations to deliver the best and provide the benefits accrued to the user from such projects.
eServices Security Product of the Year
This award honors a leading software provider that has provided the Middle East region with outstanding e-services security products or services. In a world where computer systems are constantly under attack from outside forces as well as from internal threats, security solutions are becoming increasingly vital.
Information and Knowledge Portal of the Year – Dubai Police
This award recognizes a knowledge and information portal providing up-to-date information in a productive manner that supports the all-round knowledge building efforts in the region. The portal can represent an organization or any particular industry or group and serve its purposes through exemplary use of graphic and interactive design services.
Public Information Portal of the Year
This award recognizes an information portal owned and operated by a government organization or an affiliated agency to provide a wide range of useful information to the general public. The winner is chosen on the basis of the portal’s efficiency in providing available online information and directing users to different local eService providers. This portal should be easily accessible and provide up-to-date information on a variety of government services, announcements, projects and others.
